Booking & Visits
How do I book an appointment?
There are two things you can book on the booking page: an in-person visit (we come to you — home, rental, church, or small business) or a repair drop-off. Pick one and choose a time. Businesses, route operators, schools, and mail-in audio start with a message instead — send us the details. An in-person visit is a $95 first-visit fee for the first half hour ($135 outlying), then $75/hour after; of that, a $50 deposit is charged when you book and applied to the visit. A repair drop-off is a $50 diagnostic — nothing due until you bring it in yourself, or if you'd rather we pick it up, that $20/$40 fee (by location) is paid in full when you book.
Do you come to my house, or do I bring things to you?
Both. Computer, WiFi, smart-home, and TV/AV work happens in your home. Bench repairs — laptops, tablets, consoles, control boards — are drop-off: free if you bring it to Leavenworth yourself, or pickup is $20 in the Wenatchee Valley corridor ($40 outlying). Some small fixes can be done on the spot during an in-person visit.
What area do you serve?
Leavenworth and the Upper Wenatchee Valley — Peshastin, Dryden, Plain, Lake Wenatchee, Cashmere, Wenatchee, and Chelan. Mail-in audio and amp restoration has no geographic limit.
How soon can you get to me?
Usually within the week. We'd rather give you a realistic date and hit it than promise same-day and miss.
Do I need to be there for the visit?
Someone 18 or older needs to be there to let us in and start the visit. For a rental property you don't live at, we coordinate access with your cleaner, property manager, or lockbox — you don't have to be on-site.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Use the link in your confirmation email. If you paid anything at booking — the $50 in-person-visit deposit, or a $20/$40 pickup fee — it's refunded in full as long as you cancel or reschedule 24 hours or more before your appointment. A cancellation inside 24 hours, or a no-show, forfeits it.
How should I prepare for the appointment?
Have the device and any passwords handy, know where your router and modem are, and jot down what's failing and roughly when it started. Photos of error messages or the setup help us arrive prepared.
Pricing & Payment
How much will it cost?
An in-person visit is a $95 first-visit fee for the first 30 minutes in the Wenatchee Valley corridor — $135 for Plain, Lake Wenatchee, Chelan, Manson, and other areas outside the corridor — covering the trip and the diagnosis. $50 of that is charged when you book; the rest is due at the visit. A drop-off diagnostic is $50 no matter where you're located — free if you bring it to Leavenworth yourself, or pickup is $20 per trip in the Wenatchee Valley corridor ($40 for Plain, Lake Wenatchee, Chelan, Manson, and other areas outside it), paid in full when you book the pickup. After the first 30 minutes it's $75/hour, billed in 30-minute increments, with an estimate before any work beyond the diagnosis. Parts are at cost.
Is there a charge to book a visit?
For in-person visits, yes: a $50 deposit is charged through the scheduling page when you book. It comes straight off what you owe for the visit — it isn't an extra charge — and it's refunded in full if you cancel or reschedule 24 hours or more before your appointment (a later cancellation or a no-show forfeits it). Booking a device drop-off works the same way if you want us to pick it up — the $20 or $40 pickup fee (by location) is paid in full at booking, same refund policy. If you're bringing the device in yourself, nothing is charged up front; the $50 diagnostic is due when you drop it off.
If you can’t fix it — or it’s not worth fixing — do I still pay?
Yes. The first-visit fee (in-person) or the $50 drop-off diagnostic pays for the trip and the diagnosis no matter how it turns out. What you won't get is a bigger bill for chasing a repair that doesn't make sense — if that's the situation, we'll say so and stop there. If the repair does go ahead, that first 30 minutes counts toward it.
Will I know the price before the work is done?
Yes. The first-visit fee is flat and known when you book. Anything beyond the first 30 minutes gets an estimate first, and no work past that point happens without your approval.
How do I pay?
For an in-person visit, the $50 booking deposit is paid by card through the scheduling page; the balance is due when the work is finished. For a drop-off, the $50 diagnostic is due when the work is done; a pickup fee, if you use one, is paid by card at booking, same as the visit deposit. If you have a question about accepted payment methods for your job, just ask.
Do you charge extra for travel?
Not on top of an in-person visit — travel is already in the fee ($95 for the first half hour in the Wenatchee Valley corridor, $135 for Plain, Lake Wenatchee, Chelan, Manson, and other areas outside the corridor). The separate pickup charge follows the same two zones — $20 per trip in the corridor, $40 outside it, paid in full when you book — and only applies if you'd rather we come get your device than drop it off yourself; dropping it off at our Leavenworth location is always free.
Do you guarantee your work?
We stand behind our workmanship — if a repair we performed fails for the same reason within a reasonable window, we'll make it right. Replacement parts carry their manufacturer's warranty.
Are you the cheapest option?
Probably not. The pitch here is reliability — showing up, communicating honestly, hitting the turnaround, and documenting the work — not the lowest hourly rate.
Computers, WiFi & Smart Home
My computer is slow and full of pop-ups. Can you fix it without wiping everything?
Almost always, yes. We start non-destructively — malware removal, cleanup, and tuning — and only raise reinstalling the system if that's genuinely the fix, with a backup first and your approval.
My computer won’t turn on. Can you still get my files off it?
Often, if the drive itself is healthy. Recovery from a physically failed drive is limited and never guaranteed — you'll get an honest read before you spend money on it.
Can you set up a new computer and move everything from the old one?
Yes — files, settings, email, bookmarks, printers, and updates, so the new machine works the way the old one did.
My WiFi is bad in parts of the house. Do I have to replace everything?
No. We diagnose first. Sometimes it's placement or settings; sometimes it's adding a mesh node or moving the router. The recommendation is whatever actually solves it for the least money.
Do you install smart light switches, hardwired doorbells, or thermostats?
The wiring side, no — swapping a 120-volt switch or hardwiring a doorbell or thermostat is licensed electrical work. Battery and plug-in smart devices — speakers, retrofit locks that replace the thumb-turn, plug-in cameras, battery video doorbells — we set up, connect, and configure.
Do you supply the equipment — routers, cameras, streaming boxes, TVs?
You buy the hardware. We'll give you a specific list so you don't over-buy, and if you'd rather we pick it up, it's billed at cost.
Do you work on Macs as well as Windows PCs?
Both — plus iPad and tablet screen and battery work. Phone repair is case-by-case; ask.
TV, Home Theater & Remotes
Do you mount TVs on the wall?
No. We don't do wall-mounting, bracket installation, or running cable inside walls — that crosses into contractor and electrical work. We handle everything from the mount outward: connecting and configuring the TV, receiver, soundbar, streaming boxes, and remotes, tuning the picture and sound, and repairing the TV itself.
My TV has no picture or won’t turn on. Can you fix it?
Often, yes — that's board-level TV repair: power boards, backlight, HDMI ports, and similar. Drop it off or book a home visit and we'll diagnose it. See Device & Electronics Repair.
Can you get my TV, receiver, and speakers all working together?
Yes — that's the core of it. Inputs, HDMI-ARC/eARC, optical, soundbar and subwoofer setup, and getting the right source to come up with the right button.
Can you set up my streaming and sort out the remotes?
Yes — Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast, and smart-TV apps signed in and organized, plus universal-remote programming and replacing lost or broken remotes so there's one that everyone can use.
Do you do whole-home or multi-room AV projects?
No. Single rooms and the gear you already have. Anything that needs in-wall wiring, mounting, or an electrician is outside what we take on.
Can you help our church or nonprofit with its sound or projection system?
Yes — troubleshooting, tuning, repair, and showing a volunteer how to run the system you already have: feedback and wireless-mic problems, mixer settings, projector image and connection issues. Same booking and flat rate as any other job. We don't mount projectors or speakers or run cabling.
Device & Electronics Repair
How do I start a repair — can I just drop by?
Book a drop-off on the booking page, or send the details first so we can check parts availability before you make the trip.
Another shop told me my device isn’t repairable or isn’t worth fixing. Should I still ask?
Yes. Board-level repair reaches faults that a shop which only swaps whole assemblies can't. You'll get a straight fix-versus-replace answer either way.
What kinds of things do you fix?
Laptops (screens, keyboards, batteries, board faults), tablets, gaming consoles, appliance control boards, generators and the electronic side of small engines, and pinball and arcade machines. Real jobs are in the Repair Portfolio. If you're not sure yours is in scope, ask — we'll tell you honestly.
Do you rent out arcade or pinball machines?
No. We repair privately owned pinball and arcade machines (solid-state, 1977 and newer — not electromechanical score-reel games). Renting games is not a service we offer.
Do you fix appliances?
The electronic control board, yes — diagnosis and board-level repair. Sealed systems and mechanical appliance work, no.
Rental Property Support
I don’t live at the property. Can you still help?
Yes — this is built for owners who aren't on-site. We coordinate access with your cleaner, manager, or lockbox and report what we find before doing any work.
Can you check a property before the season starts?
Yes. Book a one-time pre-season visit and we'll check the WiFi, smart locks, streaming devices, and batteries before guests find the problem.
Do you offer a monthly retainer or subscription?
No. It's break-fix and one-off visits at the standard flat rate — call when you need us.
Do you manage properties or handle guest communication?
No. Technical setup and repair only — not property management, not guest support.
Mail-In Audio & Amp Restoration
How does mail-in restoration work?
You send the make, model, and symptoms and get an honest read before shipping anything. We walk you through safe packing. Once it arrives, we diagnose it and send a firm estimate before any work begins, then repair and return it.
How should I pack an amp or receiver for shipping?
Double-box it, insure the shipment, and pad the front panel and corners well. You'll get specific guidance for your piece with the quote.
Do you work on tube amps?
Solid-state now. Tube work is being added as safety practices and skills are verified — ask where that stands.
What does a restoration cost, and who pays shipping?
The $50 diagnostic applies once the unit arrives; from there the restoration itself depends on the piece and what it needs, and you get a firm estimate before any work begins. You cover shipping both directions.
Can I drop it off locally instead of shipping?
Yes — local drop-off and pickup follow the same terms as every other repair: free to drop off in Leavenworth, or pickup at $20 per trip in the Wenatchee Valley corridor ($40 outlying).
Businesses & Institutions
Do you work with amusement-route operators and schools?
Yes. On-demand field service for route equipment (pinball, arcade, dart, pool) placed in North Central Washington by operators based west of the Cascades, and contract laptop and iPad repair for schools. See For Businesses.
We’re a small business without an IT contract. Will you still help?
Yes — one-off and as-needed: networks, printers, servers, websites, and device repair. No retainer required.
Do you offer ongoing managed IT?
No. One-off and project work, not recurring managed-IT contracts.
Who You’re Working With
Who actually does the work?
Loren Curtis — a Leavenworth resident with decades on the electronics bench and a prior career running a software company. Around town he's taught computer science and cybersecurity at Cascade High School for five years and counting, coached youth soccer, and plays music at his church.
Are you insured?
Yes — general liability insurance is in place, and background-check and fingerprint clearance for school work is complete.
Do you document the work?
Yes — before and after photos and notes on what was done. Examples are in the Repair Portfolio.
